Interview with Concert Cellist Wendy Law
How do you use Backbone Radio?
I use Backbone Radio to provide people with a sample of my works. I have an embedded player as part of my web-site. Having streaming available helps with the objective of my web-site, promotion.
Why do you use Backbone?
In the past I always had to send a CD of my performances to someone who wanted to hear me play. This would take a few days before they received the CD and probably a few more before they would listen. With Backbone Radio I stream in 128kbps MPEG-4 lossless audio for crystal clear CD quality sound. I can point them to my web-site and they can hear me play immediately.
How have you benefitted from using Backbone Radio?
I have received more contacts by interested presenters, orchestras and fans.
How do you plan on using Backbone Radio in the future?
As my career progresses I expect to be on a number of recordings. Backbone Radio 4.1, with integrated e-commerce, will enable people to click directly from my playlist to either my site or directly to the iTunes Music Store to purchase my music.
I am contemplating using the event broadcasting feature to broadcast some of my performances while they are happening.
On a personal level, I am keenly interested in reaching out to the general public on music appreciation and understanding. In the future, I hope to expand my use of Backbone Radio for arts advocacy and educational purposes, as well.
